Only the unifying power of the Turkish nation can exist forever in these lands under the roof of the nation-state established by Atatürk.
Imperialism, by its very nature, never gives up on its goals. Especially in Western Asia, this vast geography, which has hosted empires throughout history and where civilizations have developed, is of central importance for the new exploitation order of global finance capital today. This geography, which surrounds the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea like a belt, is not only with its energy resources; at the same time, it is the challenge area of the new century with its rare earth elements, freshwater resources, agricultural basins and strategic passages.
In this struggle, the goal is clear: Regional states such as China, Russia, Iran and Turkey will be dismembered, reduced, brought under control and turned into energy transmission corridors. In the eyes of the collective West, these countries are neither sovereign states nor valuable assets with their cultural-civilized identities. They are only peripheries that provide raw materials, offer cheap labor, and are conflict zones when necessary. The aim of imperialism is to control this region not only geoeconomically, but also geopolitically.
The tools used to achieve this goal are also clear: the NATO umbrella, the economic cover of the European Union, Israel’s military power and proxy states in the region. Countries such as Ukraine, Greece, Romania and the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus are outposts of this plan. Turkey is surrounded by an imperial chain of siege.
The most critical link in this chain is the state of “Kurdistan with access to the sea“. This geopolitical goal drawn by the USA and Israel has become increasingly evident in the post-Cold War period and has become the unchangeable plan of the Anglo-Saxon-Zionist axis. Unfortunately, various governments of the Republic of Turkey have contributed to this project, consciously or unwittingly.
The logistical support we provided to the ‘’Operations Provide Comfort’’ in the First and Second Gulf Wars, our refusal to speak out against the formation of a de facto Kurdish administration in Northern Iraq after 2005, and the huge investments made by Turkish companies in the region are geopolitical suicidal steps devoid of state mind. Investments in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah have effectively kept the region economically afloat for a separatist structure, rather than creating a strategic economic buffer outside Turkey’s national borders.
The second act of this geopolitical weakness took place in the Syrian civil war. Turkey has contributed to the collapse of Syria, the most important buffer country between us and Israel, knowingly or unknowingly. With the support of radical organizations such as HTS (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham), northern Syria was abandoned to terrorist organizations, while Israel gained the freedom to use Syrian airspace unrestricted in its attack on Iran on June 13, 2025. This is a strategic loss that is difficult for Turkey to reverse. Regions such as Tel Rifaat, Manbij and Hasakah have come under the control of the YPG, an extension of the PKK; The USA, on the other hand, legitimized this structure by calling it “our land power”.

Turkey has fallen into a similar blunder in Cyprus. The public diplomacy and pressures carried out for the Turkish side to say “yes” to the Annan Plan, which came to the agenda in 2004, have gone down as a black stain in our history. If the Greek Cypriots had not said “no”, the Turkish presence in Cyprus would have effectively come to an end and the TRNC would have been buried in history. Unfortunately, in this process, our national interests have been ignored for the sake of the EU membership process. Fortune helped the Turkish nation, and the Annan Plan did not materialize. However, fortune is not always on the side of the Turks.

At the point reached today, the US and Israel have complete dominance in Syria. In the Eastern Mediterranean, no maritime jurisdiction activities have been carried out since November 2020. Greece and the Greek Cypriot Administration are acting like the second Israel of the USA in the Mediterranean, and Turkey’s maritime geopolitics is systematically suffocating. The Blue Homeland discourse is now only rhetoric and has turned into a claim that has no counterpart in the field.
In this atmosphere of collapse, even the U.S. ambassador to Ankara goes so far as to publicly call for regime change, bringing divisive concepts such as the “millet system” to the agenda. However, there is no serious reaction from either the government or the opposition. In such a period, the fact that the constitutional amendment discussions are brought to the agenda with the discourse of “Turkey without terrorism” obscures the main issue. The PKK threat within Turkey’s borders has been largely eliminated; however, the extensions in Iraq and Syria are being expanded and institutionalized by the USA. The PYD/YPG/SDF line will be turned into a legitimate actor in a short time and will be introduced to Turkey, and then a corridor state will be created by uniting with the Kurds of Iraq and Iran.
Today, Turkey does not dare to confront the US-Israel axis at both the government and the opposition level. The pressure of global finance capital, economic bottlenecks and political power struggles prevent the national will. However, the Turkish nation sees this dark game. At a time when even children in Gaza have become military targets and the genocide is being carried out openly, the fact that not a word could be said to the Jerusalem Post’s statement that “Turkey can only be stopped with a Kurdish state” is engraved in the memory of this people.
Syria, which is still handed over to al-Qaeda-linked elements, has been made a part of Israel’s security strategy, while Turkey has been left out of the big game. If this trend is not stopped, Turkey may face a new Sèvres Treaty. This time, however, the threat will not come with tanks, but with the economy, proxy forces and constitutional games.
Just as our state got rid of the trap that was tried to be put into the Iraqi quagmire in 1991 by saying “we will put one and get three”; Today, they should not be deceived by the neo-Ottomanist dreams guided by the US ambassador and should not fall into honey traps. Every “vision” offered by imperialism brings fragmentation, dependency and dissolution in the long run.
The solution is clear: a secular, democratic, unitary and fully independent Republic. Only the unifying power of the Turkish nation can exist forever in these lands under the roof of the nation-state established by Atatürk. The geopolitical awakening begins with liberating the minds within. Turkey no longer has to turn to geopolitical suicidal policies, but to a fully independent, rational and national strategy.
