The “international community”, argues Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, “doesn’t exist right now … there are interests, there are militaries, there are regime change operations. This is not community.“
The War on Syria, he correctly observes,
“came from a presidential order by Obama to overthrow Assad. Starting in the spring of 2011. We have a name for this program. It was Operation Timber Sycamore …”
“The outcome of this war” he continues, “is what the CIA wanted back in 2011 which is that a jihad group would take power in Syria after being armed by the United States.”
“Kofi Annan arranged a peace in 2012. He arranged a peace in Syria. You know why it didn’t happen? Because all the parties agreed to peace except one. Literally one. That was the United States of America.” (1)
Washington, Sachs correctly argues, is the “main protagonist” of the war on Syria.
The catastrophe of Syria is emblematic of the lack of an international community and the reality of a global hegemon that subverts international law and countries globally, to its predatory will.
The genocide (2), ethnic cleansing of minorities, the persecution (3), the abduction of women into slavery, the forced banishment of minorities from universities, are all symptoms of Washington’s successful regime change.

“Here is the new Syria, Homs University is devoid of minorities after they were subjected to systematic sectarian persecution and became one color with a systematic plan to oppress all minorities from all the institutions of the current state that is ruled by a group of Takfiri terrorists. Is this the Syria that the West wanted and toppled the previous regime for its sake? What freedoms and what rights are they lying about???!!”

Western agencies will continue to erase and whitewash these ugly realities. They will disassociate Empire from its crimes.
As activist Fra Hughes observes, in describing the plight of Palestinians being genocided by Western-supported Zionists (who are currently enlarging their illegal occupations of Syria),
“You can only bring peace when you realize that what are the kind of ingredients or what underlies or what drives war and it’s always been occupation, colonialization, military intervention, in order to steal the resources of the indigenous people.“(4)
Truth, foundational to a global Peace Movement, may one day serve to create an international community capable of solving humanitarian catastrophes. But currently, truth and international community are both being subverted by a global hegemon which is Washington.
Of all the countries in the world, the U.S is least suited to the role of leader of a “new world order.” Washington has made a mockery of international law, and any “rules based order” would be more of the same. The disasters in Palestine, in Syria, in Ukraine, and on and on, are evidence of this. If current trajectories persist, we will have a barbaric “new world dictatorship”, not a “new world order.”
