Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have agreed to begin Ukraine peace talks and are expected to meet in Saudi Arabia soon.
Putin has agreed the “war must end”, President Trump said, as he revealed details of a historic “lengthy and very productive” phone call between the pair.
Trump also held a phone call with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky to agree to the “next steps” of the conflict.
Speaking about his chat with Putin, Trump wrote on Truth Social that they extended invitations to visit “each other’s nations” in the future.

Trump spoke with reporters at the White House after the two major steps towards a lasting ceasefire as he revealed details about a meeting with Putin.
He said the two presidents would most likely meet up for the first time in Saudi Arabia with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also being involved.
Trump didn’t confirm a date when the pivotal catch-up may happen but did say it would be “in the not too distant future”.
He also expects to visit Moscow and welcome Putin’s team to Washington during his second term in office.
“We expect that he’ll come here, and I’ll go there, and we’re going to meet also, probably in Saudi Arabia,” Trump said.
“The first time, we’ll meet in Saudi Arabia, see if we get something done.”
